This brilliant new release features famed pianist Bernard Roberts performing the works of Franz Schubert. Born in Manchester, Roberts is most remembered for his treatment of the cycle of Beethoven's piano sonatas, which has been highly acclaimed and remains a reference recording. He is also noted for his recordings of the music of JS Bach. In addition to a busy solo and recording career, Roberts was also fond of performing in chamber ensembles. His favorite chamber music to play was the piano trio repertoire alongside his sons Andrew and Nicholas. This album includes Schubert's Sonata in B flat major and Drei Klavierstucke D946. These pieces were recorded in The Wathen Hall at St. Paul's School in 2003.
