Contained within are ten tracks of the type of sonic psyche-frazzling heaviness and blood-drenched pop that have made Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats one of Britain’s great cult bands. Recorded at Toe Rag studios in early 2015 with engineer Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala, Electric Wizard), their fourth opus The Night Creeper finds the quartet in full-on death-tripping, third eye-widening mode. Here songs ooze louche evil over flesh-melting riffs that creep like hot magma bubbling up through the earth’s crust at their own malevolent pace. This album is in no hurry to destroy you. But it will. It will.
When listening to Witchrider, you can not help but be drawn in by their magnetism. They have a haunting beauty that proves to engulf and ignite. As frontman Daniel Dorninger says, "the thing about making music is, there are no boundaries. It's like a spirit of emotions that eventually passes through your body... you never know what you're gonna' end up with". Formed in 2012 and hailing from Graz, Austria, Portsmouth, Witchrider sport a mutual love for the quirky riffage of heavyweights QOTSA and Eagles Of Death Metal, as well as an affection for the dark elements of Soundgarden. Siphoning fuel from these powerhouses, Witchrider offer a genuinely refreshing take on their own brand of stripped down, fuzzed up alternative rock.
Death And Consolation is without a doubt a weighty album title. And, Austin, TX trio The Well is among the heaviest heavy psych bands in existence. So when Riding Easy says that there's even more darkness and intensity to the band's third album than previous efforts, take heed. It's a deep sea diving bell of enveloping heaviness and longing.
While The Well continue to walk an intriguing line between authentic early '70s doom / heavy psych and frayed weirdness of dark folk-especially with their haunting unison male / female vocals-this new album also adds the stark vibe of post-punk acts like Joy Division and early The Cure. There's also much less jamming, the songs are tight and concise. And, was it mentioned, heavy? The band tuned down a full step to C-standard tuning for this album, which gives the proceedings it's monstrous sound. Sonically, the album picks up where the band-guitarist / vocalist Ian Graham, bassist / vocalist Lisa Alley, and drummer Jason Sullivan-left off with their widely heralded 2016 Pagan Science. The band once again recorded with longtime producer / engineer Chico Jones at Estuary Studio in 2018, who has turned the knobs for all three of their albums-Jones engineered the band's debut album Samsara with producer Mark Deutrom (Melvins, Sunn O)))) in 2013. Samsara, released late September 2014, was ranked the #1 debut album of 2014 by The Obelisk and Pagan Science among the Best of 2016 from the Doom Charts collective. Likewise, the band's intense-some even say "possessed"-live performances have earned them featured slots at Austin's Levitation Fest, as well as tours with Kadavar, All Them Witches, Black Tusk and more.
LP version. Wedge was formed in early 2014 by Kiryk, The Holg, and David, three dedicated musicians and party pals from Berlin, Germany. Named after the first ever stone tool created by the hand of man the group's sound is simple, raw, effective and causes fire if operated the right way... especially live! But besides being a high energy rock n' roll locomotive, Wedge is also capable of writing very catchy original material which, other than with many other bands of that genre, easily meets the standards of their heroes from the psychedelic late '60s and hard rockin' early '70s. So turn on your stereo and check out some tunes here. This debut album, originally released in 2014, features the German classic, vintage, retro rock sound of Wedge. It's a small gem for lovers of Kadavar, Captain Beyond, The Who, Cream, MC5, and all the retro rock scene. Includes one bonus track, "Turn Back Time".
Limited Gold Sparkle Vinyl. Who are this mysterious cult phenomenon known as Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats? We are not able to shed much light on the identity of this drug-crazed coven of freaks but their addictive blend of heavy, melodic and garage horror-rock sounds have already taken the underground by storm. The popularity of this as yet anonymous bunch initially stemmed from people discovering tracks uploaded by them to Youtube, without any other hype. The band's music is heavily influenced by the late 1960s when heavy metal was emerging.
A disorientating journey through Kevin Starrs' (aka Uncle Acid) wonkiest dreams, Wasteland glides majestically from punchy and direct psych-rock anthems like "I See Through You" and "Shockwave City" to the viscous, somnambulant ooze of the eight-minute "No Return" and the twinkly-eyed bad trip of the album's mesmerizing title track. Recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound studio in Los Angeles, Wasteland boasts the kind of irresistibly raw and exuberant sound that only the greatest bands can generate.
Master of Puppets was originally released on March 3rd, 1986, on Elektra Records and went on to become the first Metallica album to be certified Platinum by the RIAA. Vinyl LP pressing. Opus Eponymous is the debut studio album by the Swedish heavy metal band Ghost. The album was originally released in October, 2010. Opus Eponymous was recorded in the band's hometown and produced by Gene Walker. Opus Eponymous was nominated for a Grammis Award. A band member, all of whom are referred to only as Nameless Ghouls, explained that the songs on Opus Eponymous were written in 2007 and 2008, around two years before the album was released. 'It's musically smart in the way that metal should be spooky, evil, with just a dash of 'do you think these guys are serious?' Even if Ghost weren't espousing the glories of a certain dark lord, the songs would still hold up beautifully, which should be an indication of how strong Opus Eponymous is. ' -Metal-Rules. Com
'Retribution for the Dead' was originally released back in 1991 & was Autopsy's first EP, sandwiched in between their all-time death metal classic albums, 'Severed Survival' & 'Mental Funeral'. With the core trio of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler & Danny Coralles joined by Steve Cutler on bass, Autopsy delivered another rotten dose of punishing and deranged death metal. 'Retribution for the Dead' notably includes earlier versions of the tracks 'In the Grip of Winter' and 'Destined to Fester', which were then to appear in re-recorded form on the band's second LP, 'Mental Funeral'. Autopsy formed in 1987 and features legendary drummer Chris Reifert, who began his recording career with US metal greats, Death, before taking on the unusual duty of handling drums & vocals for Autopsy, alongside longstanding riff-masters Eric Cutler & Danny Coralles. Autopsy originally disbanded in the mid 90's following their fourth album, the tastefully titled 'Shitfun', (going on to form sickadelic deathsters, Abscess) before returning from the grave in the late 2000's. They have successfully spread the sickness far and wide to global audiences since, whilst continuing to inspire a whole generation of metal bands, having been no strangers to controversy themselves along the way for pushing the boundaries of extremity. This edition of 'Retribution for the Dead' is presented on standalone vinyl for the first time since it's initial release in 1991 & contains the original sleeve artwork.
The bands sixth studio album. inyl LP pressing. Theories abound regarding the seven-year cycle. Even the most casual of searches yields a wealth of discourse on the philosophy, positing the occurrence of transformation (or even full rebirth) in the seventh year. Higher Power grow into a similar space on their second full-length offering, 27 Miles Underwater. Uncovering the nexus between melodic vulnerability, metallic viciousness, and punk vitality, the Leeds, UK quintet-brothers Jimmy Wizard [vocals] and Alex Wizard [drums], Louis Hardy [guitar], Max Harper [guitar], and Ethan Wilkinson [bass]-deliver eleven anthems informed by everything from shoegaze and grunge to punk and thrash, yet defiant of era.
